Fed: Govt plays down chief adviser's call for more cuts=3

The Garnaut Review was commissioned last year by federal Labor while in opposition,
in cooperation with state governments.

State premiers today vowed to act fast on the report's recommendations.

"The challenge here for government is to really turn this into what I would describe
as a climate of opportunities," Victorian Premier John Brumby told reporters.

The federal opposition said it would not commit to 2020 or 2050 targets until after
the final Garnaut Review is submitted.
