NSW: Rate cut could have come sooner: Carr
The latest official cut in interest rates has been welcomed by New South Wales Premier
BOB CARR, but he says it could have come sooner.
Mr CARR says he called on the Reserve Bank to lower interest rates on March 21 to ease
the burden on home loan customers.
The Reserve Bank of Australia today slashed official interest rates to 5.00 per cent
from 5.50 per cent, saving homebuyers about $41 a month on the average mortgage.
Mr CARR also says despite the cut in interest rates, the Australian dollar remains
at historically weak levels.
